Note: Introduce Christ-Centered Phonics Lessons for Flashcards 32-66 after a child has finished the 1-31 lessons (item 301)--- or when beginning an older student on Level C to provide a stronger foundation in phonics, spelling, and beginning grammar.

This second phonics lessons text introduces cards 32-66 (from item 325) and coordinates with Phonics Workbooks A:2, B:2, and C:1 (items 309, 311, 314). These Christ-Centered Phonics lessons cover: ending consonant blends, adding suffix -s, consonant digraphs (ck, sh, ch, tch, ng, nk, th, wh), two or three initial consonants blended with a vowel, plus beginning grammar (naming words, describing words, pronouns) as a tool to develop reading comprehension. To reinforce the daily phonics lesson, use the appropriate Instructions & Answer Key plus workbook (Level A:2 - items 308 and 309; Level B:2 - items 310 and 311; Level C:1 - items 313 and 314).

Note: Because the Level C workbooks are more advanced than Level B, you may wish to adjust the teaching pace periodically to focus on mastery rather than trying to complete the material within a certain time frame. Has your child completed through PWB B:3 and is reading well? If so, it is probably not necessary to go through PWB C:1; instead, review PL for 67-93 (item 315) plus complete PWB C:2 (item 320) before going on to Phonics Lessons for Flashcards 94-118 (item 321) and PWB C:3 (item 323). By eliminating PWB C:1, the normal Level C pacing schedule in the phonics lessons (A1st/2nd) can be slowed down to work on mastery of this material.

Has your child completed through Level B:3 but is still struggling with phonics? For a student who is not reading well yet, we recommend reviewing PL 32-66 by focusing particularly on areas that need strengthening. Be sure to complete PWB C:1 (item 314) before going on to Phonics Lessons 67-93 (PWB C:2) and 94-118 (PWB C:3).

Does your older student need a stronger foundation in reading and spelling? Phonics Lessons for Flashcards 32-66 (item 307) and PWB C:1 is the place to start; then follow the regular Level C schedule: PL 67-93 (PWB C:2) and PL 94-118 (PWB C:3).

After teaching the daily PL 32-66 lesson, use the Instructions & Answer Key C:1 to help your student complete the C:1 workbook pages. Note: The first 40 pages of the C:1 workbook go along with with the ten review lessons (vowels and consonants) at Appendix 1 in Phonics Lessons for Flashcards 32-66 (item 307). However, by page 41 the C:1 workbook then follows the PL 32-66 lessons, starting with its first lesson (ff, ll, ss) on page 1.

Four C:1 workbook pages match each PL 32-66 lesson: Phonics, Vocabulary, Spelling Lesson, and Penmanship/Spelling Pre-Test. The Phonics Exercises in this workbook are more advanced than Level B:2, and the Vocabulary Exercises correspond with the Spelling Lessons. Manuscript printing is still practiced in Level C:1; cursive penmanship will be introduced in PWB C:2 and reinforced in PWB C:3. Spelling Lessons contain ten words related to the sound under study: ending consonant blends, suffix -s, consonant digraphs, and words with two or three consonants blended with a vowel. As the words become more difficult, five spelling words are new; five are review.
